When I gave birth to my first child, lifestyle design became very important to me. I know I don't want to work hours with my kids, but I have to feed them at the same time. I'm sure my kids won't be spending countless hours in daycare, so I negotiated with the boss to design my way of working so I can still spend quality time with my baby. Although I had no formal terminology at the time, I never based my decision on making money alone. Work must be flexible enough to give me the lifestyle I want.

Fifteen years later, I treat my company with the same mentality. I'm not afraid to cancel all traditional start-ups and set standards that can give me a lifestyle that I enjoy. I have always felt very happy in the process.

For example, instead of saying "I want to lose weight," say "I want to lose 10 pounds in 3 months." Having specific and measurable goals can be transformed into any area of ​​life. If your lifestyle goal is to spend the winter in a warm place, then you should incorporate this preference into your business. You should consider a method to organize your business in the following areas:


You have made enough money to pay for this lifestyle

Your company has enough mobility/flexibility to maintain your permanent residence throughout the quarter without interrupting the cash flow.

If you don't consider your preferences, eventually you will develop a company that hates you and gets stuck in a hamster. Planning lifestyle matters is not as complicated as people think.


Second, determine what you need to know and learn

Some people may want to reach this level, but they don't want to invest in what it takes to reach this level. At some point, you will have to determine if you are ready to make the sacrifices you need.

After figuring out your requirements, ask yourself if you're willing to pay the price. Don't start unless you answer this question honestly. Do not answer this question too quickly, but spend some time to solve it and be honest. If you decide to pay the price, share your goals with someone who can hold you accountable.
